Hi all

I’m new here (clearly this is prob wrong) 29 ur old female from Sydney, being sleeved on June 5th 2018. (Yup 3 weeks)
Stats (don’t judge)
SW - 91.6kg
Surgeons goal weight for me is 50kg
Personally just want to be healthier.
I am being sleeved by dr Kuzinkovas at St George private hospital and I’m nervous as hell and need words of encouragement or just a slap in the face.

Welcome @Healthier me!

How exciting for you!  The three weeks will fly!  Not sure why you think that we will judge your stats, or slap you in the face, this site is for support!  You may be interested in starting a blog up under "Diaries".

I am guessing that you are a shortie like me judging by your surgeons goal weight for you being 50 kg, I'm only 153.5 cm/5' tall.  My original dietitian gave me a goal weight of 53 kg +/- 3 kg, and my personal goal weight was 50 kg.

All the best!
😉

Oh!  And don't forget to get "before" pics done prior to your surgery, along with measuring yourself all over, including neck, upper arms, wrists, each thigh, calves!  You'll be pleased later that you did!

Hi and welcome, how exciting!

You're having your sleeve surgery on the same day I have my plastic surgery (I was sleeved in 2015, lost 37kg and been at goal for over a year). Best of luck and as Denzel said, take lots of before photos!

37kg is great! I’m struggling to find anyone my weight starting off. My surgeon wants me to lose 40kg but I think I only want to lose 30ish and I’d be happy. Was the 37 your surgeons goals for you?
Are you nervous about your plastic surgery?
I have just paid my anesthetiser and surgeon just need to pay the hospital and Then it’s a waiting game! We have 13 days to go

Thanks!

Nah, my surgeon didn't give me a goal, I set it myself. I wanted to get to 75kg but it would have been a mighty struggle to get to and maintain. Life's too short for that. I'm happy where I am.

Absolutely bricking it about my surgery, I flip flop all day between being excited and stressing, then telling myself not to think about it lol. Gah!

Best of luck again, I'm sure you'll do fine. You're doing a great thing for your health, mine was the best present I ever gave myself 😉

Hi Healthier Me!
I hope your surgery went well and your not in too much pain. I am having my sleeve done by the same surgeon at St George Private next week (12/6). I am 159cm and Dr K has said I need to get to 45 kilos, but I will be ecstatic with anything under 55! I am older than you (56) and started pre-op diet at 75.5kgs but I have extremely high bp, cholesterol and pre diabetes.
Please let me know how everything went as I am starting to freak out now that the op is less than a week away!

Hi and welcome @Labbiemum!

Your Dr K has set a very low long-term weight goal for you!  That would put you at a BMI of 1.7 = underweight.
My first Dietitian bases long-term weight goal  on your height in cm - 100, in your case 159 - 100 = 59 kg.  The she said +/- 3 kg, so that makes 56 kg to 62 kg.

@Healthier me - I hope that all is going well for you! Welcome to the sleeved side!  Today and the next couple are not going to be great, but they will pass, and things will get better 😉
Your Surgeon, too , put your long-term weight goal low.  My dietitian would have put yours at 56 kg +/- 3 kg, so 53 to 59 kg.

All the best!
😉

Hi Denzil, thank you for the welcome ❤️ I reread my post and I made a mistake on my height. I am actually 150cm! Sorry, my fat fingers! I think when they set the goal so low it is so we can then work out 70% of the most we should expect to reasonably lose. That would put me at about 54 kilos which is within the higher end of my weight range. I can’t even imagine getting to 60!

Hi everyone,

My surgery went great this day day 1 post op and I’m feeling great. I had shoulder and chest pain from the gas but that was all. It kind of felt like when you sleep wrong at night and wake up in pain in the morning. Dr k hasn’t come in to see me yet ! He should be today at some point. I’m actually got the clear to leave tomorrow.

@LabbieMum - haha!  You're shorter than me! Not often does that happen![rofl][rofl] (I am 153.5, range 152-154 depends on who is measuring me).
Yes you CAN lose the weight!
I was 74.something at my first surgeons consult, but the heaviest I've been was in 2002, and I was 82.5 kg
I am now 55 years old, currently weigh about 52 kg 😉

Ahi Healthier Me, so glad to hear everything went well with the op and you don't have much pain ❤️ How is the sipping of fluids going? I think I am dreading the new feelings of fullness more than the op! That's great you get to go home tomorrow!
Regards ❤️

Hi Denzil, Yes, I'm a shortie! I too have been measured anywhere in the 149.5-152cm range, I usually take 150 as my basic. My heaviest has been 77kg which I have managed to whittle down to 75 in the past two years! Tried WW, Curves, Jenny Craig all to no avail. I have been walking about 1 hour 3-4 times a week with a friend and walking my dog, but snacking between meals (especially in the evenings) is my downfall.
Once I have the sleeve I want to commit to no grazing or constant snacking! My portion sizes are ok, it's just the grazing that brings me down!
I am new to forums, but I must say, I am enjoying my experience so far - I have already met two new friends on my first day on the forum!
Cheers ❤️
