Hi Nicole! How are you? How are you "sleeving" along? :-) Yeah, you're right! My doctor said, in his case, that it's not necessary if you have a BMI under 35. Tomorrow I'm off to Hamburg over the week-end. Feels like I'm saying goodbye to my old party life now... Dea

| hi dea, Not all doctors make you do the pre-op diet, it seems to depend on each individual. I had to do opti for 3 weeks but only 2 meals a day, where as some do it for 2 weeks 3 meals a day and some not at all. I think it maybe has something to do with where we carry our weight ( big stomach etc). They say that by doing this diet that it helps to reduce the size of the liver before the op, but im not really sure.

Hi Nicole! Thanks for the welcome and congratulation on your weight loss! It's amazing! I never thought that I would be able to make such a weight loss as you have. Nevertheless now I see a light in the tunnel :-) I'm so thrilled to speak with you all having read all your threads during some months. Maybe you can explain the Optifast procedure and the shrinking liver thingy to me? Here in Sweden they don't seem to do it that way. All the best! :-) Dea

Hi Miss Dea Although you've been around for some time, because you haven't spoken up, I guess no-one's welcomed you. So - welcome to the forum! I'm glad that you've decided to introduce yourself, and congratulations on getting your surgery date. Don't worry, we all got nervous before our ops (well, a lot of us anyway). But if you've been reading for so long, you already know that. Did you know that there's a thread on pregnancy too? Check it out - there are a couple of sleevers who are pregnant right now, so you can follow their progress. I look forward to hearing more from you in the future. Chris

Ohh, I'm sooo exited! I've been following your stories for almost two months now. Today I felt ready to join in! I'm getting sleeved on the 9th of December 2008 and I'm very excited and stressed about it. My surgeon is the best in Sweden and a specialist in Laparascopic surgery so I feel quite secure. Well, I would like to introduce myself, I'm 37 years old, happily married, no kids (hope they'll come after my weight loss), and I have an exciting job working with International Training Programmes. I'm 1,77 m tall, I weigh 108 kg and my BMI is 34,5 I believe. My goal is to reach 68 kg before July 2009 and to get pregnant next winter. I would very much enjoy getting in contact with people who got pregnant after weight loss and with anybody else of course! Hope to talk to you soon! Miss Dea
