I may be a country hick; don't laugh; I know about scrapbooking, some items that are bought; but what exactly do you do when you are scrap booking?

I agree that boredom is all the more problematic when you can't eat! After the op are you able to drink hot drinks, eg coffee and tea? Is there a temperature restriction?

Are you able to stroll around a shopping mall? You could sit down every 10 mins or so, stop off at a cafe and have a drink. I love window shopping. Take your lap top with you and email from a cafe (nicer if outdoors).

If you're near a beach, take a beach towel and sunnies and lie on the sand, listening to the waves.

Join a meditation group - 'ummmmm' your way to bliss. I'd love to find a meditation group as it's supposed to aid healing. Some people think it's weird though - so you'd have to be open minded to enjoy it I guess.

All the best and please keep us informed as to your progress!

Big hugs,

Kris.

Oh my Goodness - what's wrong with you all? I love ANY excuse to lie down and do nothing, and that's exactly what I did!
My three activities were internet, TV and novels.

Enjoy it while you can, because in a few months you're going to be really energetic and really unable to sit around!!

I felt the same as you after surgery.... It was like I couldn't concentrate on anything bout also did not know what to do either it was a rather weird feeling. But do take it easy and sleep as much ad you can as you will regain stength soon enough but also do little walks to keep your circulation going! Take care!!

Hey Natty,
I agree with the others, this is the time where you need to rest and let your body recover from the surgery.
To over come the boredom I read a lot, I know this isn't everyones idea of fun, but I loved it as I don't normally have time. I also slept a lot!! Days where I had more energy I did a little sorting of the house but light stuff only, I also played a lot of games on Facebook, as that way I was sat down!
It will get better and you will feel like you have more nergy ans strength as time goes on...keep up the gentle walks too.
Good luck!

Hi Natty...

Have also been recuperating for the past week....thankfully the Comm games are on so have had them going in the background...catch upon previously missed tv...do light stuff...DONT hang any more washing...I was given strict instructions to look after the tiny tummy and washing was on the list of DONTs for a while....There's always the forum.... catch up on all the stuff you haven't read it....

Take advantage of this time out time to recuperate...every extra bit of strength you build now is good for the long run.

Yep I was "bored" as you say. Thats why I went back to work less than a week after discharge. Figured I could sit in front of a computer writing reports in a therapy dept just as good as I could sit at home twiddling my thumbs.
My concentration was shot to hell but...guess it still is to an extent.
It will get better. xx

Hi Natty,

It's hard work doing nothing. Especially when your not allowed to do anything hey.

Im sure you've already done these but i'll write them anyway. Maybe phone a friend that you can chat to for ages. That will pass the time. Clean out your 'tupperware' cupboard. Buy a heap of magazines and spend an afternoon reading trash.

Sorry there are no amazing ideas that will keep you occupied for the next couple of weeks.

Hi, it's not so much bored, but just I don't know what to do with myself. I never have been a very good patient.

I don't know to do to amuse myself, in a clean way. I have absolutely no motivation, and very little concerntration. I usually go for a couple of short walks, not too far as I don't want anything going wrong while I'm away from the house. I usually watch tv or listen to the radio, but it doesn't really entertain me as such.

This is only day 3 out of hospital, I'm going to go stir crazy over the next week and a half.

I did manage to hang a basket of washing out today, anything to feel normal.

Sorry I know I'm winging over nothing, and there are people who are doing it tough, especially Patty at the moment.

Any idea's would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Natty
