applesauce I agree. I was sleeved on Dec 9th. I had no complications with my operation. Unfortunatley I did have problems when I tried to move onto the mushy stage. Food was constantly sitting and not going down properly. I was stressed as I kept thinking I was eating too fast and maybe the wrong thing. I went back and saw the dr and he asked me to give it two weeks and if it did not resolve to go back. I went back and on Monday 8th Feb I had a Gastrosopy. Since then I have been able to eat all the foods that wouldnt agree with me in the mushy stage. Feels great to be able to eat and I have more energy now. The Gastrosopy is done via day surgery with anaesthetic. The procedure didnt hurt and had no complications. The surgeon did confirm that it was tight and it wasnt just me.

Less than 1% of all sleevers have a severe complication and that number can be reduced IF you pick your surgeon with care. Ask how many complications how many leaks they have had.

You do NOT get a choice in the size sleeve you get it is not clothes shopping it is up to the surgeon. One surgeons size is different from the next even if they say the same size because they ALL pull tight when doing it at a different rate. It is being human.

Everybody heals at different rates, some people are pron to a little bit of vomiting to start with USALLY but not always it is those who would easily vomit before and nearly but not always it is because they ate to fast did not chew well enough or ate to much. It is NOT a complication of a sleeve it is just healing and getting use to the sleeve some people push it some people dont some people get lucky some people dont.

A very very VERY tiny few need a quick day vist to hospital to have a stretch as they heal a bit to tight. All I have heard have said it was painless.

If you modify you diet greately as in remove high sugar high fat food from in for a period of time then try and add it back to your diet on an empty stomach you CAN feel extremely vile. Not all people feel this way but quiet a few do. If you want to add these foods back to your diet you need to do it slowely and do it on a full stomach a spoon full at a go. If you STILL react badely wait at least a month and try again as your stomach capacity should have increased along with your digestion fuctioning of your stomach. Same routine if it doesnt work then wait another month and try again ALWAYS on a full stomach.

I don't sweat anymore. In fact I can walk around an outdoor mall type thing for hours now, whereas before 10 minutes would have me chaffing and sweating and wanting to sit down for a rest.

Don't wait till you are 50 to do something about it. You could be dead by then.

Yes, I will also be a bit of a yo yo again but I think what I have figured is you can sort of have a yo yo diet when you have the sleeve and you eat lots of chocolate, you end up being sick.

How big are the sleeves for the people who are getting sick?

Mind you, I will always need to work out for my muscles, otherwise, they will just deteriorate and shrink.

But I am sure alot of you sweat. I sweat more though and that is one thing I really hate!!! Esp the smell of it!!! By getting the sleeve, would that lessen the amount I sweat? I guess you cant answer that for me but has it helped you in that sence??? Thankyou for sharing your thoughts

He did say yes he would do it but he said to me, that I can really do it myself as my BMI is only 32. So I am trying to find out the most information as I can. As to what people feel like... He has left the decision up to me. I have an appointment with the dietition and psychologist on the 16th, and then see him again on the 30th March or April, can't remember. Can I ask you ladies is it best to go through menopause after you have had the surgery? (I am hopless at trying to find the correct words, but try and see where I am coming from) I have had the hysterectomy operation, so no doubt menopause might happen before I reach say 50, so is it best to maybe take some of the cause of sweating (fat and stomach) away so it would be more comfortable during this period? I sweat alot, so doing this now may prevent the sweating a little do you think?

I purchased like $180 worth of Tony Ferguson shakes today, so I am on the right track now, but I would really like some feedback on the above questions if anyone can answer that for me????

I liken waking up from surgery was like a switch had been flicked in my brain. Sweet no longer appealed to me, made me feel sick just to think about it. I started to crave savoury. Which was very unlike me! Sweet is back now, but if I over do it I get the runs as payback :P

PostSubject: another question   Thu 11 Feb 2010, 5:43 pm

Thanks so much girls for answering, I have a real hard time saying a big fat no to chocolate, especially today when coles had all the single serves of chocolate for like 92cents!!! So what did I do? I grabbed a bunch, something like 6 bars and bought them all!!! ITS JUST SO HARD TO BUY SOMETHING HEALTHY INSTEAD, WHEN THEY ARE THAT CHEAP!!! I am sooo BAD

Does any one else have this problem??? If so, what do you do to control it???

What can I substitute it for??? I know it is possible to do this as I did alot of substituting work when I was competing for the games!!! Today, I am proud to say that on Monday or Tuesday, I will start the Tony Fergusen diet. I really need to start substitute all Diet Coke for water!!! Diet Coke is sooo bad for anyone. As it substitutes the sugar for artificial sweetening stuff! Just 1 glass a day isn't too bad, but believe me, not as much as I am currently having!!!

At our support group meeting the other day we were talking about complications. And most of the people there said that its very rare to even hear of people having complications. Even on the USA sleeve site they are very few and fare between.

No I had no complications at all :)

Once home and sorting my eating out I did get very constipated but I would not call that a complication at all...just adjusting to everything

Hi I am just wondering if anyone has come out of surgery without a complication? If you came out with a few complications what were they? Was it anytthing you ate that you shouldn't have?
