Yes, my BMI was borderline, but at the age of 51 I had been fighting my weight since puberty.  I also had sleep apnoea and endometrial hyperplasia.
Along with ME/CFIDS + Fibromyalgia + undiagnosed POTS, limiting my ability to exercise ....

So the surgery was to benefit me for medical reasons, not to help the surgeon financially.

Thats kinda true Aniseed, but it is a high risk surgery.  So hoping a crappy BMW isn't there motivation for operating!

My BMW - I wish lol!

I saw the dietitian a about 2 1/2 weeks prior to having the surgery, my BMI was 31.5 then, and by the time I had surgery it was 30.5 (I had done a lot of running around in the mean time in Perth summer heat).

Does she have to do Opti pre-op?
My BMI was borderline, so I didn't have to do it.

I dnt know the answer to your question, she will need to check with her surgeon.  Its his/her call.

But the opti is really to shrink your liver, the weight loss is great too, dont get me wrong.  But as far as I know the point is to shrink your liver, because they need to move it to get to your stomach.  If it starts getting damaged or tearing during the surgery they don't do the sleeve.

My wife is quite tall, 188cm and 110kg's, BMI 31.1, she has struggled with her weight for years, and has finally got to this point, our only concern is if she looses 5kg's in the 2 weeks pre-op, her BMI will be below 30, has anyone else had this issue?  Did they still do the surgery?

(I know if she can get to below 30BMI she should be able to stay there, but we all know this is a lot easier said than done).
