PostSubject: Sleeve Done today    Sat 01 Apr 2017, 1:46 pm

I did speak to surgeon re: reflux etc, he gave me lots of good information and stats from his previous completed surgeries. I have today had the op and ended up having a hernia repaired so am thankful that it may clear the reflux issues. I didn't end up getting the minimiser ring. I feel ver good at the moment but expect that tomorrow may be a different story ! Both my doctors have had the procedure done them selves and are really knowledgable and empathetic - I'm so thankful that they understand the patients point of view and can offer good advice.

Hi newtosleeve,

I was sleeved by Dr Stephen Watson at SJOG Murdoch.

I have met some folk who were sleeved by Dr Harsha Chandraratna and think that he was wonderful.  I believe that he has had the sleeve himself?

Is Dr Harsha Chandraratna aware of your problems with reflux GERD?
If not, please contact him, as he may wish you to have a gastroscopy first.

The sleeve CAN make already present problems with reflux GERD worse, and also cause them if they weren't there to start with.  (Me?  I have have had no problem).

Some interesting reading here:

All the best!

Thanks Denzel for your reply, I am still unsure so will give it some more thought.  Can I ask you who did your sleeve in Perth and at which hospital?  I have been seeing Dr Harsha Chandraratna and am having the procedure done at St Johns Subiaco.  Feeling excited but nervous....I have some reflux GERD issues so am feeling a little apprehensive and hoping that this will not make things worse, do you have any thoughts on that?  Cheers

MiniMizer ring - I was sleeved in Perth just over two years ago,and I have a MiniMizer ring.
Personally I have had no problems, and went for it "to be sure, to be sure" to help avoid the stomach stretching.

Wishing you all the best!

Hello, I am 10 days away from traveling to Perth to have my gastric sleeve surgery.  I am wondering if anyone has any feed back regarding the minimizer ring, I am struggling to find much info on it and am still in two minds about having one.  Initially agreed to it when the I first saw the surgeon but I am now not sure and would like to hear from anyone who has any information or opinion.  Thanks in advance!
