I am just starting this journey, with my initial consultation with the surgeon booked for the end of January.
A little about me: I am a married father of three, live in a small town in Western NSW and work as a Christian Minister. I have struggled with my weight my whole life, and can't really remember a time when I wasn't overweight.
I currently have a BMI of 36.8, along with some of the health issues that can accompany that - blood pressure, cholesterol etc. I also suffer with a chronic pain condition in my back which is only made worse by my extra kilos.
I have reached a point that I have to act. I have tried everything else - diet, exercise, medications... and while I might have some success, it is always limited, and it is always temporary.
My concern is that I don't have health insurance - I am hoping to draw on my super, has anyone else here been down that track?
Thanks for listening/reading, and I loo forward to getting to know some of you on this journey.
