Success! I am off the bloody smokes...This time I won't go near them ever again!

Time to go back to drinking now I reckon. hahahaha :)

Just kidding

Here is a quick comparison of my progress after the Op

Me 2 weeks before the Op

Me now (almost 8 weeks after the Op)

Amazing what 21Kgs can do to a person!

Don't be ashamed, Rasputin, but please try to get some help somewhere to quit. My surgeon told me he's only ever had one serious complication with the sleeve and it was with a woman who smoked. He said she'd quit before the op but took it up again 5 weeks out from surgery. She developed a leak then and he believes it was due to the increased intra-abdominal pressure created by the smoking.

Even if you don't end up with a complication you'd feel so much between without the smokes. I know how hard it is to give up, but you can do it, I'm sure!

Hi

Can you perhaps try and see your GP and get into some plan before you are totally hooked again?  I have not smoked for 12 years, around about the time I started piling on KGs!

All the best! I would say go and see doc or phone Quitline for assistance before you get totally into it.

Well guys, almost 4 weeks out since I have the Op (next Tuesday to be exact) and I feel great with no issues or complications whatsoever. 15Kgs down!

Having said that, I feel somewhat disappointed that that I managed to kick one habit and pick up another just as bad :(

I feel like that guy who got busted by his mother:

"Son, I have been told you Smoke! and he replies....No no mother, it's only when I Drink....

The mother yells, so you DRINK too!!! and he replies, no no mother, it's only when I Gamble LOL :) :)

So after 5 years of quitting smoking, I now find myself being drawn to it all over again (without the drink or gambling thank Goodness). My wife doesn't yet know it but I feel so ashamed and it's partially due to the void am filling-in with not munching on anything or drinking anything either for that matter.

I just can't be an angel and one of the bad habits always stays with me it seems :(

Am so depressed about this and ashamed :(

Hi Guys,

My name is Jalal and I'm from Sutherland in Sydney.

I had my gastric sleeve done on Tuesday this week and got discharged from hospital yesterday with no issues.

My main 2 reasons for doing the operation were:

* Get rid of Type 2 Diabetes (tablet controlled) or at least prevent it from progressing to become insulin dependant.

* An incentive for me to cut down on the booze as it's not doing me any favours

The weight loss that comes with this operation is a bonus for sure and I can see the results already :)

Pre-op weight 112Kg (BMI 36)
Operation day weight 108Kg
Today's weight 3 days post op is 105Kg

Enjoying my soups, diet cordials and have no problems with sipping water.

The only thing am concerned about is that I haven't had any #2 toilet visits since the day before the operation but hopefully this will get corrected as I bought the benefibre today ;)

Chat you guys on the forums and look forward to reading your encouraging reports.
