I was adding instant coffee to me protein shakes in an effort to make them palatable a few days after surgery.
I think I went out with a friend for coffee possibly 4 or 5 days after surgery...

No ill affects apart from adding to my coffee addiction...  Crazy

Some people say, it could help you go to the toilet...
and I needed all the help I could get at the time... hehe

I haven't read anything that indicates that a person shouldn't have coffee for a period of time after the surgery but I will check  :)
I'm guessing that focus will be on water and nutritious rich foods as opposed to coffee in the immediate weeks after surgery.
2 weeks to go...

Hmmm I read a post-op diet article today which stated no caffeine for 4 weeks... it was American but I assume their bodies work the same way ours do (even if their brains don't).. what does your nutritionist say about it?

I still drink coffee (black, ground "full-strength" and decaff, plunger).
And took my plunger and coffee into the hospital with me because I can't stand instant coffee...

All the best!
:)

I've spent the last 2 years waiting for my PHI to mature and for us to be able to afford the surgery, and here I am.  I have a date!  Surgery is booked for 20 October (22 days and counting).

I have been lurking in an effort to read up about expectations and preparations.

My biggest concern right now is COFFEE!!  I love my coffee.  Without fail I start the day off with a mug of latte that has 3 espresso shots.  A bit later I have another.  I have been doing this for years.  Obviously I'm not going to be able to fit that much coffee and milk inside me.  I have warned husband and children...
