Thanks everyone.
I'm a bundle of nerves at the moment.
Have already tried a two week stint on the shakes, which was not huge fun,  but like most things,  it's for the greater good,  right?

Hey Miss Jane,

So glad you found us :)  I was so relieved when I stumbled upon this site by accident about a month before I was sleeved, it's such a wealth of information, support and encouragement.

Not long to go for you now, hope the nerves aren't too bad.

See you round the forum, DayleD

P.S Having your gall bladder out pre-sleeve is a good thing for you.  About half of sleevers have gall stone issues post sleeve, due to rapid weight loss etc.  At my 6 month check up the other day the doc told me that it's now more common for the gall bladder to be taken out at time of sleeve surgery, although it's not happening in Australia as yet.

Hi MissJane,

Welcome to the forum! This is one of the nicest groups I belong to. It's very inclusive and supportive. Feel free to ask any questions. It's important that you feel comfortable with your decision, the more you know the easier your recovery will be. Do you have to do Optifast before your surgery?

cheers Nini

Hi all,
So I am quite relieved to have found this active forum before going under.  I get the sense that I'm going to have lots of questions before this is all done.
About me.  I'm 35, BMI of 41 and due to be sleeved on 23.3.15. I have a nearly 2yo child and I'm a single mum.  I teach VCE at a school near home and am a fan of watching mindless television when I'm not marking work.
My surgeon is Mr Dean Spilias, who incidentally removed my gall bladder about 9 months ago. I figure he's already been inside,  so that's an advantage, right?
Look forward to getting to know others here.
Jx
