Saturday 26th sounds good to me. Would really like to meet other people who have had a sleeve done. I think I am going OK but it would be good to talk to others who have had it done.

Alex, It doesn't sound like you are doing so well. I am 4 weeks post op and feeling better, not having stomach cramps and working out how much I can eat. Sometimes I don't drink as much as I should but I think I am getting better at it (Rums go down too well which is not good for weight loss!) Have you thought about taking Iron tablets? I had a post op bleed (and needed four bags of blood the day after my op) I have been taking iron (supposted to take it twice a day). I think not eating or not eating too much can drop your Hb and that might be causing tiredness.

Yes, the weight has come off and I do feel better for it, but I am so darn tired all of the time, yet dont sleep much and I have no muscle tone left.. Actually, I am in a spot of bother (not eating or drinking enough) so I am looking forward to the catch up so that I can chat with others to see what you are all doing food wise.

I'm moving this weekend, but I am hoping that I can manage a catch the weekend after. Maybe the 26th: Souvlaki Hut in Charters Towers Rd, at 10.30?????

Just a quick posting to let you know that Jules had her op this morning and she is doing very well, apart from some nausea which is being kept under control with meds at the moment. In fact, Jules is doing so well that they decided that she did not need to go to ICU as predicted (she has sleep appnea so they thought that she would need to go there for the night) Just like Jules - never does what she is supposed to do! lol Got to luv her!

Hi all
I am travelling to Townsville in July (for the V8s) with a group of my nearest and dearest. We are staying on Magnetic Island (Island Palms Resort), and will be in the area for 10 days. Can you lovely people please suggest some 'must see' attractions/shopping/activities for us while we are there....this will be much easier than me researching it all and wasting some of our valuable holiday time!!!
We are a varied group, with some liking fishing/diving/shopping/eating/drinking/exploring/driving/drinking/eating (gosh...did drinking and eating get in there twice!!) lol.
You guys all seem to be doing so well with your weightloss...I am envious as mine is very slow. I think you are all very lucky to have each other close for support, something we kiwis don't seem to be doing....

It appears that some can and some can't make Saturday, nevertheless, Saturday 22nd it is!

We will be at the Souvlaki Hut on Charters Towers Rd at 11.00 and I hope as many as possible can come along for the chatfest.

I have a few items of clothing to pass on to anyone who wants them, so please do bring your spares along and we can do the carpark swap together.

Jules and Sami are next in line so it will be good to give you both a cuddle and our best wishes for a speedy recovery. Those of us who have gone before, will tell you that it is a piece of cake (mostly) and the world is so much brighter when the scales begin to slide and you know that it is forever, a one way journey.

I am not going to make it on Saturday (I have my operation on 19th May) but I should be right if there is a get together on the 8th May. I will keep an eye out and see what is decided. I will eventually make it to a get together. The kids don't have swimming for a few months now so Saturdays are now free.

I hope that things are going well for you all. I am thinking that Sat 22nd May, or Tue evening 8th June might be good days for us to catch up. What does everyone else think - I'm very open to suggestions, so please do let me know what would suit best. It seems that people do like to meet at the Souvlaki Hut as the seating is good, there are plenty of seats, we get to sit in a rather private area and it is central. However, any other suggestions will be appreciated, as we might want a change of venue. I'll leave it a week before I post the final day and time, so drop me a line or post your suggestions in here.

Kimba, I have a few items of clothing to pass your way, so, let me know if you still want them and I shall bring them with me or, alternatively drop them off for you.

Maybe, we all could use the 'catch up' as an opportunity to do a car park clothes swap, lol.

I had a brilliant time in Tas and arrived back home today. I will have a look at the calendar for our next get together and post a couple of possible dates, in the next day or so. How is everyone going? My weight has stalled for a bit, but I hope to be back on track in a short while - going to step up the exercise to try to tone up as I have saggy skin plus, plus. even so, I am happy as a little pig in mud! I hope you are all feeling on top of the world, too.

Hi ladies. Just wondering when you might be meeting up again in Townsville? I live in central queensland and I will be coming to Townsville this Sunday in preparation for my sleeve op which is scheduled for Thursday next week (29th - can't believe the big day is nearly here!!!!). I noticed that you had a meeting on saturday just gone, which I've missed by a week unfortunately, so I'm just curious as to how often you meet up and hoping that I might be around next time.

Welcome Maria - Don't even think you are bulldozing at all. It would be lovely if you came along for lunch (even if it is an opti lunch - I have been there done that! and so have others). It is just good to come along and just have a chat, most of us have similar things to talk about.

At last my computer is fixed! Yeah! The keyboard wouldnt type several letters/numbers and then the screen went berko. I had all sorts of trouble trying to post anything.

How about we meet this saturday at 11.00 at the Souvlaki Hut? That way we can have lunch and chat. It will also give several people time to get there (appts etc).

Yes the last meet up was a really pleasant morning and it was nice to meet the other 3 ladies that were there. It is certainly nice to be able to talk about things that other do understand and that you are not alone on things that you feel.

For the next meet up I am not available on Friday night 16th April but am available on Saturday morning after 10.30 (after my daughters singing lessons) on 17th April.

The only time so far in May I am not available is Sunday 9th (which is Mother's Day).

Hi everyone, just thought I would say hello.

I would love to get together with you guys when you meet-up, I'm only an hour away BUT (there's always a but), kids, weekend sports, my husband works away, make it difficult ... one day I will.

I am surviving Opti .... just drinking huge amounts of water when I'm hungry. I go in for surgery on the 29th of this month and after reading stories from other "April Sleevers" going through without problems, I'm feeling a lot more excited.

Food is a distant memory - it is great to have meal-time over in 10 minutes - suits me!

The size 20s have gone but there are still plenty of 16s and 18s for anyone who wishes to have them.

Went for my 1 month check up today and I weigh 91.2kgs. Yahoooo, that's 7 down from sleeve day. Still losing it off the top and face and I think that I am getting rather conscious of big hips, but, as Rhett says "Frankly my dear, I don't give a dam". The hips will move at their own pace and I am luvin' my sleeve.

Still got reflux but nexium takes care of it. How is everyone else going?

I also asked Dr if I could go to the gym now and he said that it was ok. I asked if I have to tell them that I have a sleeve and he said, "probably not". Thats good news for me, as I dont want to tell anyone, really.

Also, is there any up date on when we shoud next meet?

I took delivery of the clothes from Libbeed and have sorted them to choose a few items for myself. There are two full boxes of size 18, two of size 16 and 1 box of size 20 which also has a size 22 pair of trousers. If anyone would like these clothes, give me a pm of a call and you are welcome to collect or we can arrange something else. Ther are plenty of jeans (16 +18) and some work clothes (18) in these boxes and the clothes are quite lovely.

The Souvlaki Hut was great, just like Roz says. There were four of us and we had a good time catching up. Consensus is that we should meet again next month, but it is a pretty busy month for many of us.

What about the 17th of April, same place and at 10.30, this time. Seems that the Souvlaki Hut doesnt open until 10.30. Let me know if you can make it, or you may have another date more suitable. For me. I only have the 10th or the 17th free in April.

Roz, if you are in town, give me a call and you could drop by for a cuppa. I do tend to make myself busy during weekends, but I know that I will be home Friday and maybe Sat am this weekend (even though it is Easter).

Lib, I have sent you a pm re the clothes.

For those of us at the meet, it was great to talk about things that only 'we' could understnd and I am so thankful for the support of each and everyone in this forum. Thanks girls for coming along. Hopefully, there will be more of us to celebrate with, next meet.

Sorry I didn't make it yesterday - I still have the headache! - probably lack of food (lol)

I spent most of the weekend cleaning out my wardrobe and have 5 big roller-cartons of "plus" size clothes.
Most are size 18 but have quite a few items that are size 20/22 and also a few that I purchased from USA that are larger than our sizes! Many of these items have not been worn (or worn once or twice)...Brands include TS, Motto, Autograph, Big City Chic, Rivers, Yarra Trail, Basque, Jane Lamerton, Rockmans and of course good ol Target!

I did promise Alex the pick of the 18s but it sounds like she is well on her way to the 16s! -
Please PM me with your details if you are interested and we can work out how I can get them to you (or you can collect from me).

Any entrepreneurs out there - come and get the whole lot and you may make a few dollars on selling the items you don't want!
I don't have time to put them up on EBAY but there's quite a few $$$ in those boxes!!.
