Hi all

Is anyone up for another go at a Canberra meet? I have the following suggestion:

Meet up in Garema Place (say near the Chemist that sells ice-cream) at 2:00pm.
We all wear some sort of largish sticker that says GSS (doesn't tell anyone who we are but lets us recognize each other).
Wait 10-15 mins for stragglers
Move to a nearby coffee shop for a coffee.

What do you think?

Hi guys sorry i missed the get together. I havent logged on for a while to much work not enough social time.
will keep a better eye out and will try and make it to the next one. I'm having my tummy tucked in September

Oh Chris, I'm sorry.

I was there at noon. But I didn't see anyone that I recognised through the glass, and I'm way too shy to walk through a restaurant of people that I didn't know. So I came back in 5 minutes, still didn't see anyone, and then I just walked home again.

Maybe next time we could meet up at a place that takes reservations? Or I could PM my mobile number to someone or something? I'm sorry that I didn't see you.

Where were you?
I went to Babars today, and sat there for half an hour, looking around for fellow sleevers.
Were you there and I missed you - or did no-one else turn up?

Sorry i will have to miss this one.
My husband will be coming home the day before and it has been 5 long months since he was home so i think you can all understand why i wont be there.

Gee, Lynne, sorry to hear that. But the main thing is that your hernia is sorted now, and you should start feeling a lot better soon. I have no idea how long after that surgery you'll have to wait for the sleeve - but hopefully it won't be too long. After all, I had them both done at once, so it can't be too bad, can it? Good luck, anyway, and if you change your mind, do come along for some support.

Not sure if you have read my other thread but a couple of weeks ago i had to have emergency surgery on my hernia.
This was supposed to be fixed when i had my surgery on 14th July.

However that obviously has not happened and am now recovering from my hernia op.

I am terribly upset not to be having my sleeve done anytime soon. I have an appointment to see the surgeon on 13th August and he will let me know if/when i can get the surgery done.

I have not been on this site much lately as i really am very depressed about not being able to have my surgery yet so to this end i am going to decline our meeting in a couple of weeks, i just think the way i am feeling now I will be even more heartbroken sitting with people who have had and are going to have the op.

Once i know if i am able to have it down the track I will then see if anyone wants to meet up.

Sorry to disappoint at short notice.

Ok, here is a suggestion, how about we go to Babaars. It's on street level of the Canberra Centre with easy access in and out. I will have to check with hubby if he is rostered on though as he is my chauffeur and chief pit scooter crew!

Actually the pancake parlour has a nice, small cheese & potato pancake that is great for sleevers. But that said, I'm not particularly wanting to go there - just thought I'd share the info.
I'm happy with anywhere we can get a good coffee, and have a chat!

i also dont go out very much so dont have much of a clue, i do know there is a pancake parlour,but that is setting myself up for heartache i guess as i will still be only 2 weeks out from the op, so it might need to be a cafe style place so i can get some sort of smoothie/milkshake.

The city is fine though so I really dont mind.
