Meanwhile, I suspect Gail was overheard proposing a Semaphore meet up, involving a walk on the beach (sounds great to me). But I think she's also flat chat at work for at least 3 weeks.

What a great catchup today was. Thanks OldMark for the photos, i'm just spewing we didn't do a group photo. I didn't even think of it until nearly everyone had gone. It was great to see how everyone was progressing and to meet the newbies. Can't wait for the next one.

Hi and thanks so much to the one responsible for organising the get-together - what a great bunch of people & it was very enjoyable to meet & talk!

For those I didn't get to meet I was the one in the colourful (!) retro top and I am having lapband removed (after 3 yrs) on Friday then will need to wait 3-6 months for that to recover before I can have sleeve op.

You were all so happy to share your experience and support! I was quite down about the failure with the band and run-in with the doctor so was really not wanting any further surgery but at the same time so worried that all the weight I have lost will go back on (again!) without a sleeve op. After today, I can see no reason to not go ahead with the sleeve once I can! And I now have some real recommendations on surgeons etc. My confidence is back - thanks!

Mark, good luck for Friday - break a leg as they say! I only wish I was going in for the same op rather than removing a xxxx band and having to wait the 3-6mths before being able to have the sleeve. Best wishes for a fast recovery and watch those kgs fall off.

Hi everyone, It was so great to see you all today at the get together. I am sorry I didnt get to chat with some of you. I would like to firstly thank Libby for organising it all, to Steph for the optifast sachets and to Nigel for the fantastic kickstart, I am really humbled by all your well wishes and support.

Today was incredibly hard for me, on the outsie I can hide it but on the inside my heart is broken and I need time to mend both physically and most of all mentally, I had a little cry on the drive home after lunch today.

So therefore for that reason I will not be logging on for a while, you are all wonderful and yes very envious that your journeys are getting you to where you want to be.

Thanks so much for organising the get together Libby! It was fantastic getting to meet and talk to you guys today - I tend to be a little shy with new people, so will try to get to speak to more of you next time. Those of you that I did talk to were absolutely inspirational. I can't wait to see Dr France this week and will certainly keep you posted as to whether he agrees to take me on.

I just remembered to phone Billy Baxters and increase the number. They were fine with a group of 25, probably won't be too happy when we don't spend heaps on food LOL. The booking is under Libby if anyone gets there before me, but I am going to try and get there a little early.

Don't panic I think that there are a few that will be late and we tend to hang around for a while. Lisa will be about an hour late and I have no intention of rushing back to work because this will be my only break for about 3 weeks............bugger.

How much Nigel, what flavour btw

I have a box containing 21 sachets of Kic-start, which is like optifast but has a nicer, creamier taste (IMNSHO).
I have kept a few for possible future needs, but at this stage I am quite confident that this box is surplus to requirements.
If anyone would like them I will bring them along to the lunch.

I probably shouldnt attend as I am no longer able to have either sleeving or bypass after my disasterious band removal surgery last week. Finally home today after 9 days in hospital. I wish you all well and hope you all have a wonderful time.
I guess I knew nothing ever goes my way , nothing ever seems to go great for me :(

Unfortunately I don't think I can make the next one (cries silent tears), will be the first I have missed since they began.

thanks so much for replies & advice - spent hours last night reading and it was just great to realise that others had exactly the same issues I was having with the band (after the doctor looking at me like I must be doing something wrong so many times!) So now I am seriously investigating the sleeve and it doesnt feel hopeless anymore.

Looking forward to meeting people & hearing their experience with the sleeving ... do I need to book - will possibly bring another person with me.......

The best thing to do on this site is probably just make a coffee and sit and read. The diaries are a great place to start but if you go to home there is always different threads for particular things. I don't know about you but percentages just cheese me off, you will read on here any problems that people have had but I don't know that there is that much. Personally I have had none.
Look forward to meeting you at the gathering (take over of billy baxters LOL) and you can ask whatever questions you want you will not offend I promise.

I am really interested in getting information on those that have had lapband removed and sleeved; recommended surgeons in Adl etc. I have lap band since 2007 but not really doing the job & having problems so considering sleeve after visit with doctor today. He says there are only two surgeons in Adl that do sleeving (majority only do bands) and that the deal is that you need to wait 3 months after having band removed to protect against problems that arise from removing the band. He also said there is a 7% risk of problem with sleeves which seems high?
