Ok HAYLEY - THIS IS WHAT I PUT IN TO GOOGLE SEARCH

NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE AND AUGUST 2007 AND SWEDISH STUDY.

IT REALLY IS A GROUND BREAKING STUDY.

THERE IS ANOTHER- LESS HELPFUL OBESITY STUDY IN THE SAME MONTH OF THE JOURNAL SO YOU DON'T WANT TO GO IN WITHOUT THE REFERENCE TO THE SWEDISH STUDY.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED MEDICAL JOURNALS IN THE US.

HOPE A MORE COMPUTER SAAVY PERSON CAN GET THE LINK TO WORK PROPERLY

Hey, this is interesting info. Can you tell us where you got this? Maybe post a link to the source?
If you got this info, I bet there is more too!
Thanks for posting it.

Ok, I am not sure if I am in the right place but maybe oldfart or hayley can figure out how to move this.

A ground breaking study was reported in the August 2007 New England Journal of Medicine. You may all know about it there but just in case I am going to put it in here because I think it is really important.

4047 patients were studied for 10 years. 2010 underwent a form of bariatric surgery. 2037 were treated with diet and exercise, etc. 99.9% of the patients were still located at the end of the 10 years.

1-2 year weight loss;; : versus 10 year weight loss
these are from total body weight at time of surgery:
32%-25% gastric bypass
25%-16% vertical sleeving
20%-14% lap band
2% plus or minus Control group (no surgery)

MORE IMPORTANTLY:
Death after 10 years from cardiac problems 13 surgical group versus 25 in the control group
Death after 10 years from cancer 29 surgical group versus 47 in the control group

These are significant differences folks- so think about that when you are worrying about getting the sleeve!
