| Hi Chrysalis
I'm now 12 days post op and getting better every day. It is a bigger operation than the sleeve as they are cutting into you. You will be fine, I was worried about how I would feel after about no longer having these boobs that i have lived with for so long, but I feel great about it now. Love my new shape, I discovered I had a waist under those boobs.
Expect to rest and do nothing for at least 7 days.
It is exciting
Good Luck on the day

| Hi all, 5 days to go and like Chrysalis, I am more scared than I was with the sleeve. I'm sure I will be absolutely fine they do these ops all the time. Just nervous for the pain and the results and how do I do nothing for the next 6 weeks with Christmas on our doorstep let alone being a mum and the only woman in the house.
Will post photos when possible. Good Luck Chrysalis, hope all goes well for you too.

| Hi Gail,
My Friend who told me about WLS in the first place has the garments required so no need for me to spend any money on this stuff.
I'm currently about a 18DD - H for HUGE hope to be about a 12-14d, because I am so big it is hard to go too small but it will all be much more manageable with just a handful rather than fat and skin oozing everywhere.
DR Bredis at Kogarah, operates at St George private. Very happy with process so far, and he was very nice with lots of experience, an older gentleman.
Can't wait count down is on and it is keeing me very motivated with the food i now eat, and even starting to jog from time to time while on my walk.
Hope yor are well

| I'm also wanting this done. Would be great to have the girls sitting up where they should be rather than pointing south. Am currently a 14F/G depending on the make of bra although have just bought a tankini that's a 12G. Max, there's a shop in Cronulla that sells them, its called Velvet Jayne, or check out www.bravissimo.com which is an English site but they ship to Oz and even with the exchange rate it works out cheaper than buying here!!! Congrats on getting it done so soon. By the way which surgeon did you go to see? I wouldn't mind getting an opinion on hoiking up the girls and also for a tummy tuck. | Funny - the only comment i've had yet about any weight loss (other than from my husband under duress) is from my son (age 5) who noticed that my boobs were smaller and wondered why. It's an unfair world where the weight first comes off the parts where you don't mind so much having a small bit of fat!
I've always had reasonably large breasts and am looking forward to them being more manageable but yes, I can see already how they may just start looking like a couple of loose warts - especially after 3 kids! So yeah, a lift sometime in the future would be lovely! _________________ Weight pre-opti - 120kg After a week on opti - 115kg Weight at surgery (11-08-09) - 112.7kg Current Weight - 75 kg

| I went from a 20DD to now being a 16D, and I think I need to resize again, but mine is mostly now saggy skin, and the bra just picks them up and holds them where boobs are meant to be... I have a really good sports bra for the gym, but mostly they hang and look bad, so I'm hoping to get mine tucked after, would be good to hear how it goes Max. I would be happy with a B cup, after having bigger boobs, they just seem to hinder than do much of anything... | Max-- I remember my mum having it done and she had little pain but if she lifted her arms past a certain point she damn well knew about. She would quickly cross her arms over her chest until it passed. She had 1.5kg and 1.75kg removed from each breast I can't remember which side was what. I've spoken to a few Dr's and people that have had a reduction and lift done. I can't get over the fact that I might not be able to have feeling back in my breasts or nipples, which is really turning me off. How is everyone else thinking about this. The smallest I've been was when I was 12 and was a C-cup. Right now I'm a I cup but have no idea what I will be when I have lost weight all I know is they will look like an orange in a string bag Best wishes chrystale |

| I'm excited!
Saw a surgon yesterday for breast reduction and lift. Yeehaa, was aiming for sometime next year so I will have lost all my weight, bu doc said another 10kgs and it will be unlikely I will lose anymore from my boobs. So surgery is booked for Nov 23, that gives me a goal to aim for again. Another 12 kilos is what I am aiming for, I will be 65kgs and then expect to lose 3-4 kilos of breast.
Now I am scared. The sleeve wasn't a concern to me and caused me no great pain or grief now I just need to keep positive about the breast surgery and I expect that will be easy too.
Anyone else had it done recently?

| Hi Max I completely understand, and I was feeling the same way - but I recommend that you wait and see how your weight and size are at the time before going ahead - if you have a look at my previous posts, I've decided to postpone as even after 14 months, I'm still losing (albeit slowly) weight, and especially size. The doc I saw said that if I changed weight by 5kg up or down, it would definitely have an impact on the surgery he does, and it wouldn't be as effective. So I decided to wait until I have definitely stabilised before going ahead. | I'm wantiong to have a breast reduction about April next year. I will have been sleeved a year then and believe I will have lost all the weight I hope to by 12 months.
Can anyone recommend a surgeon in Sydney's South?
I can so relate to all the message s below, I have had big boobs for ever and I can't wait just fit in to a bikini top. They just don't make them in my current size, about a double E or a H for huge!
Any referrals will be greatly appreaciated.

| Okay, so I've cancelled the boob job! Well, postponed it really - I hope, anyway! Just the last couple of weeks I've started losing mass off my boobs again, which is great, but means it's not time to do it yet. So I'll wait a while longer, and see how I go, before having the chop. And I'd like to get the arms done at the same time, but they were more than I was expecting, so it'd be good if the finances were a bit healthier before doing it, too. Out of pockets look like being $5000 for the breasts and $4000 for the arms - if done at the same time. If not, the arms are more, but the breast cost is the same, 'cos I was quoted on that alone first. Interestingly, I got a quote for the tummy and thighs to be done at the same time too, which was the same - $5000 for the tummy and $4000 for the thighs, if done at the same time. Oh, there's also the anaesthetist cost - which was $1000 for one procedure or $1800 if having both done together. And this doc said he'd do the breasts if I was smoking, but not the tummy, so that's something to consider, too. Something to do with the tummy having to have muscle worked on, which heals more slowly, I think. Hope this info is useful... | A friend of mine who is a GP recommended Dr Andrew Crocker, he is actually the head of plastics at Royal Perth Hospital, felt confident with him. He has done 1000 ops which seemed pretty impressive to me. Email me if you want his details. Will be about $5000 out-of-pocket. In hospital over-night, can drive within a few days if comfortable enough. He explains everything and listens to questions. |

| The one thing I liked about my weight gain was finally getting some boobs, now they are disappearing |

| I'm just organising for some referrals now and will be making appointments within the next week or so. It is well overdue as I've been thinking about getting a reduction for quite a few years but because of my weight issues ... I've put it off! I have also had lots of neck, shoulder and back pain.
Now that I've lost a fair bit of weight and have plateaued for a bit ... I think I need to take the next step. I want to start a new career and begin a new life as such. I'm beginning to get my 'new body' and I now want smaller, perkier boobs to go with it!
Otherwise ... when they're 'hoiked up' in a bra .. I'm very top heavy (I currently am a F/G depending on style, only 5 foot and wear size 10 Target jeans) and without a bra ... those babies swing all over the place and are very good pals with my armpits!! LOL!!
My goal/dream is to be able to fold my arms Below My Boobs ... No Longer Above them!! :)

| I was wondering about that too, Fadding Away. I'm still at the stage where I'd happily chop them off, though! I'm thinking that a C cup is probably the way to go, though - and if they're pointing forwards, I may even get a cleavage! LOL Monica, come join me! I'm not getting done until October, so plenty of time... | Thanks, Fadding Away! Well, I'm squeezing the babies into a D cup at the moment, but it's a bit small! And I'd like to have just a B or C cup. Monica, I'd recently had a mammogram, and mentioned it, and he said I'd pre-empted him, so he did check on that. And he also did a physical to check for lumps, too. | I was just wondering .. to all the girls who've done the procedure or have a date already set ...
1) Were you required to get a mammogram done before the surgeon agreed to proceed with your case ... to get the all clear? 2) Did the surgeon examine your breasts for any abnomalities besides measuring and checking on the shape?
Thanks in advance!

| Hey, FG Well, he asked me if I just wanted a lift and to keep my boobs the same size, but I said no, that I wanted them made smaller as well. That's 2 separate procedures, so it depends on what you want. There's a brochure that shows you how they cut, but I'm not sure if I can describe it. Wow - it'd be great if I lost 3kg overnight too!!! Must remember to weigh myself at the time. | When my MIL had a breast reduction she lost 3kg overnight. This is where it gets hard to gauge the correct weight you should be because all the loose skin weighs a fair bit.
As for the photos, I'm completely in the other camp as I am very interested to know how its done and what it looks like. I could end up needing a similar op later on and I'd love to know where gets "reduced". _________________ Highest officially recorded weight 126.4kg@177cm tall Weight at starting Opti 29th May 2009 116.1 Surgery date 25 June 2009 107kg, Dr Richard Babor Auckland Weight Loss Surgery

| Thanks for your comments, everyone. Yes, it was a very good consult, and it was wonderful to hear from the doc that he thought I was good as I am already and don't need to lose any more weight! Even after I told him that I was still technically in the obese category, he didn't change his mind! Let me see if I can answer those questions... Oh yes, I have lost heaps of weight off my bust - I'm probably about 1/5 of the size that I was before! But they're still too big and of course very droopy, and they also tend to gravitate to under my armpits. The doc showed me before and after photos, and I asked to see one with that same problem, and he showed me one that was similar but not as bad - said he didn't have anyone else who was as bad as that - always knew they weren't right! :) No photos, eh? And here was me, getting psyched up to share! LOL As for the weight loss, my sleeve surgeon suggested that if I could get into the 70s, I should be pretty happy with that and not expect too much more. I'm down to 78.8 at the moment (yes, I put on a little over the last 2 weeks - a timely reminder not to let it get away from me), and am thinking that I'll probably finish up around here. I was hoping to get down to 75, and I still might, but just in case this is another plateau and not the end of the road, I wanted to find out what would happen if I kept on losing after the breast op. And that's why I've chosen the October date, so that I'll have a better idea of what's happening - also, I can always re-schedule if it's necessary, but with such a long wait, I wanted to get on the list. I think that's everything - let me know if I forgot something!
