Hi

I'm not a Kiwi, I didn't have private health insurance so I paid cash for mine ($14,000+) by accessing my superannuation, which you can do here if you have a medical necessity. I am sure there would be a similar process in NZ if you have super. Worth a try if possible.

Hi, has anyone here been sleeved in New Zealand?

My GP and surgeon agree that sleeving is right for me (I currently have a BMI of 38.1) but even with Southern Cross, its just not affordable currently. I've been quoted $16,500 for the procedure (and other care) of which SX will only cover $7,500 leaving me trying to figure out how to get hold of $9000 (NZ$).

Are there any other Kiwis here and how did they pay for their procedure?
