| Hi Sarbear
Welcome to the site. I was one of the first banded on the Gold Coast in 1999 and had it out in 2001 in an emergency situation where it had slipped and wrapped itself around a lot of my organs. I didn't know anything about the sleeve until this year and decided to have the operation after putting on 20kgs. I was sleeved on the 5th November and so happy with how everything has gone. I only had pain the first night, was out of hospital on the 3rd day, have had no vomiting so I have been extremely lucky. I am still in the process of getting to know how much I can eat - generally half a cup depending really on the density of the food. Cruskits have been my saviour!!!!!! My only bug bear is I do get a quite a bit of diahorrea (mentioned in another topic) but I feel if that is all I have to whinge about I am very lucky and so happy with the sleeve after the band. There are quite a few people on this forum who have had band out and sleeve in - some of them in the one operation so they will be able to tell you more.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

| Hi Sarbear and welcome
Like you I had a band. My was put in Feb 07 in Bunbury and removed Nov 08 in Perth. I had numerous problems with my band including pain as you described. I had a CT scan and was told it was fine but when it was removed the new Dr found that my band was around the very top of my stomach and there was no pouch at all. Having the band removed was the best thing I could have ever done. The pain was gone straight away and I could eat normally again!
I am scheduled to have the sleeve done in Perth on Friday this week! I have waited between both operations as thats my surgeons preferance. I can't wait but am also scared witless lol
Feel free to ask any questions you want!
Cheers Cindy |

| Hi Sarbear,
Welcome to the forum! Great to have you here. Like Chris said, there are many members of this site who have gone from a band to a sleeve so I am sure you will get the information you are looking for. In the meantime, enjoy poking around the site. _________________ [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/w5m0oJz/] Pre-op Consult Nov 2008, 124kg Surgery Date: 22nd Jan 2009, 112kg |

| Hi Sarbear and welcome to the forum. If you do a search, you'll find that there are lots of people on this forum who have had similar problems to you. Some have had their band out and the sleeve done at the same time, but others have had to have two separate ops to have it done. Best wishes, and let us know what the doc says.
