| Good luck, doll.
When you're ringing in about cancellations (aka stalking), do emphasise how much this means to you. From loitering on the forum I know that another patient "jumped the queue" (quite without meaning to) in front of me because the receptionists saw their case as more compelling, because that patient had really told them what was at stake. That's what made up my mind to stop stoically waiting and to really lay it all out for them.
If you're feeling really cheeky, ask about colonising Mr T's lunch hour. He may have one. Or an "emergency/relief of pain" spot.
But the family trip sounds awesome!
Best,

| Dark: you go girl!! unfortunately the problem here stems from the fact that he is on leave for the whole of april, and he only has one day per week set aside for app's. I have got my name in for cancellations and will talk to the gp/syke about how long his report will take, then I can do the regular ring in for cancellations. You never know, like you I might hit the jackpot. It's not all bad, if my op had been scheduled for early may, it would have coincided with the families trip to the Blowholes at carnarvon, my mother spent many weekends there soaking up the rays, fishing and eating fresh oysters. She wanted to have her ashes placed there, so her bithday, 5 may was set aside to do this, and now Buddy's ashes will go with her. I'm sure they would have changed the date if need be. _________________ Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie CounterLocation: Corrigin WA Age: "old enough to know how, and old enough to know better" Weight when refered by GP: 122kls Goal weight: 75kls Height: 165cm Lapband removal 2 February 2010 Surgeon: Mr Alan Thomas sleeved 10 june 2010[url] |

OK... I'm probably going to get myself into trouble here, but I'd suggest a bit of creative tantrumming (AKA getting a bit assertive).
From my reading, it seems the bottleneck is at the GP appointment end. Work on that first, because that will increase your window of opportunity to see the surgeon before he goes on leave. Does the GP (or the GP's receptionist) understand the implications for you? Point the implications out. You might find an appointment opens up.
I moved my date forward by several months by just pointing out the realities of the situation to the people controlling the diaries. Here's how:
I first rang Mr France's rooms in early January, and was given a date in mid- to late-May as the earliest available for the initial consultation. A surgery date could have been well into June/July.
It became apparent to me that I wasn't going to be able to fit the op in and be fit enough for a major work commitment in mid-June.
I rang the receptionist and asked for cancellations every week, but people don't seem to cancel on Michael very often. Then I laid out the case with regard to the work schedule: it had to be soon, or it couldn't be for 18 months.
Very kindly, she crammed me in somehow and got me an initial consult today. He gave me my surgical date -- which is in just a couple of weeks. If I hadn't got a bit assertive, I'd still be waiting (Yay!). As it is, tomorrow I go on opti (Mixed emotions here).
So.... I hope you can get something unblocked in the bottle-neck. If not, I can be your crash-test dummy and go first! Then you can learn from my mis-adventures (I will, doubtless, have some).
Good luck,

| Hi Forlife, yeah I've seen nicky and my gp app is on march 17 (with andrew) he will also do my syke assessment, everything is on track, other than being able to get an app with Mr T when its all done, as I said my band was removed (by Mr T) on the 2 feb - 3 months later is 2 of may, this was when I was expecting to be done, give or take a week. Because he wont be available to give me a date until 10 may, i'm concerned that my wait may be consderable longer than 3 months.
I know it's not the end of the world and it will happen, but I was really dissapointed to hear that, I saw Mr T end of last year and had to wait till feb to have the band removed, then the 3 months to get sleeved, it feels like I'm waiting forever.
just needed to vent, anyway I've winged enough for one day, I'll just build a bridge...........

| Hi Numus
Did Alan Thomas take you band out? Have you seen Nikki (Dietician) yet?
Recommend if you still need to see Nikki and Baratrics Gp call Tony(receptionist) and book these appt in also as Alan Thomas will only proceed when all these appts have been held. Good luck with the time moving fast and well done in selecting a good surgeon. _________________ Starting weight: 112kg Surgeon: Mr Alan Thomas Surgery Date: 24th March 2010 Goal Weight: 75 kg

| Hi Nimue, My PHI doesnt kick in until April 28th so have had to book my gastroscopy for after that. Ist available slot for that is May 11th then have to see surgeon at least 10 days after that to allow results to come through which takes me to May 20th. On MAy 20th Dr Epari will book my surgery date should everything look ok on the report, could be as soon as 2 weeks or longer depending on his schedule. I had visions of having my surgery April 29th lol. Prob wont be until late June but oh well. Maybe we will be done at the same time. Kylie _________________ Highest weight 127.8kg. Yeah! I know I'm just scared that when I finally get to see him he's going to say "I'm fully booked until july or some riduculous date.

| I'm totally bummed....rang Mr T to get appointment to set my op date and got told he wont be around in April and fully booked until 10 may. cant get a date until I see the gp on the 17th march, he will need a week to send through his report, 24 march, 4 days after that Mt T goes on leave, thats why I dont have an appointment until 10 may. My band was removed on the 2nd feb so 3 months from then is first week in may..... I've been counting down the days. I'm hoping that when I do see Mr T it will only be 2 weeks till my op, not months, plus I need to make sure my super is paid out in time and I'm not sure when to start that process????? _________________ Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie CounterLocation: Corrigin WA Age: "old enough to know how, and old enough to know better" Weight when refered by GP: 122kls Goal weight: 75kls Height: 165cm Lapband removal 2 February 2010 Surgeon: Mr Alan Thomas sleeved 10 june 2010[url] |
