| My surgeon is Dr Michael France, You couldnt ask for a better doctor/surgeon. Really nice guy, and only to happy to answer questions and queries you have. He also operated on a friend of mine from work, and another friends daughter. I would reccomend him to anyone. _________________

| Hi Wendy, do you mind me asking who your surgeon is? I am booked in to have a Bypass on the 18th March with Dr Bessell who I think is fabulous! I agree with Apple in that the idea sounds very similar to the DS surgery. _________________ Banded June 2008 - 130kg Band removal & Bypass 18/3/10 Goal 1 - To get under 100kg - achieved 28/3/10!!Goal 2 - 85kg for my birthday 20/7/10 - achieved (rather late) 25/8/10Goal 3 - 80kg by 03/10/10 Goal 4 - initial goal of 75kg by Christmas 25/12/10

| Thanks Apple Sauce, I am happy to keep you up to date with what I am going through and any information that I get I am more than happy to pass on to you. I will also be seeing dietician and psychologist post op, I think both will be an important part of my future challenges. Thank you again Wendy _________________

| A RNY is a standard bypass, and I agree the weight loss with those is about the same as with a sleeve. I was talking about a Duodenal Switch http://www.dsfacts.com/ It sounds very much like what you are talking about but they actual bypass that section of the intestine rather than removing it. But I can promise you one thing no matter what you do you will get heaps of support here and NO judgment at all in a negetive way. It is VERY hard starting out that high I was close to 200kg, I can not get under 97kg nothing I do will move it beyond starving and I have choosen not to starve to put my ass in a size 10 pair of jeans. But far from think what you are doing is wrong if I was in your shoes I would be doing exactly the same thing and looking at the malabsortion road. You never know if I have future health problems I may even consider it myself. So I am very curious to find out more of this procedure you are talking about :) applesauce _________________ Highest Weight well over 165kg we guess closer to 200kg Weight starting optifast 142kg 31st August 2007 Weight date of surgery SLEEVED 118kg 19th November 2007 Current weight 97.5kg 31st July Goal weight to see the 80's for Christmas Final Goal weight to see the 70's some time next year |

| He said that the bypass will not give me anymore weight loss than the sleeve. Thats what i initially asked for. This is a fairly new surgery they are doing elsewhere. I completely trust my surgeon and the path that I've chosen to take because of my trust in this surgeon. I'm nervous, but right now I feel as though i have only completed half of my journey. I'm half way over the mountain and I need to keep going. I'm sorry Apple sauce I'm not sure what DS is? I am not going into this lightly, I havent lost anything since before xmas, and I have tried. I cant each much less, and as my surgeon said some people especially those that were of a massive size just need that bit extra. Thanks for talking to me about it though, as i said I've chosen not to tell anyone due to the negativity I got last time. _________________

| Im just interested, does the surgeon believe that this will help you lose the extra weight? Why did the surgeon suggest this operation over an actual bypass? As I said I am just being nosy, so you dont have to answer if you dont want to.
Wow 60kg - that's an amazing effort!!! Well done :) _________________ Highest Weight: 125kg+ Sleeved Weight: 111.2kg Current Weight: 66kgSleeved January 12 2009, by Dr Harsha Chandraratna @ SJOG Murdoch. |

| Honestly take a look at a DS, it is the MOST successfull weight loss surgery out there when you need malabsoption. If you follow the high protien high fat diet basicly atkins you can have amazing results. It is the second part to a sleeve. I would strongly advise you read the DS forum and see how they do it as the Aussie doctors do not tell you anything like they do there and THEY as in those on the forums have amazing results with a close to atkins type diet. If you want the links to it yell and I will pass it on. It is the road I would go down if I had major regain problems with the sleeve. applesauce _________________ Highest Weight well over 165kg we guess closer to 200kg Weight starting optifast 142kg 31st August 2007 Weight date of surgery SLEEVED 118kg 19th November 2007 Current weight 97.5kg 31st July Goal weight to see the 80's for Christmas Final Goal weight to see the 70's some time next year |

| Thankyou for you reply, I am having 2-3 metres of my bowel removed as I am stuck completely at 134kg, I have lost just over 60kg. I am not telling anyone that i'm having it done after all the negative comments i got about having the sleeve, so just wondered? Guessing just wanting some support too. _________________

| Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had or heard off selective bowel removal as the second part of the process in weight loss after a gastric sleeve, I'm booked in for March 25th, and just wanted anyone's experience with this? _________________
